UWS / HAC RUFC SOCIAL EVENTS
UWS/HAC rugby prides itself on its social aspects in fact they are the very reason that many of us enjoy rugby so much. Listed below are some of the social aspects that make the rugby season so enjoyable.
TRAINING NIGHT SOCIAL DRINKS & COACH'S SHOUT
After most training session the fellas can be found "Carbo" loading at the Stable square bar or just enjoying a cleansing ale by the side of the College Oval. In fact those who choose to avoid this valuable aspect of Club life often miss out on the convivial atmosphere on which good clubs are built. However, there are a number of fellas in the Club who don't drink (and that's cool too) we encourage all club members to socialise and partake of whatever tasty beverage you desire. Coke, Water or Beer it doesn't matter when you're making new friends. When we win all grades (which is a regular occurance) the Coaches shout drinks after the next training session. We love it! It makes us think and play as a club and shows that the coaches are putting in when we put in!!!
POST MATCH SPEECHES & BOAT RACES
Players are expected (where possible) to attend post match speeches both at home and away. When at home our speeches are held in the Stable Square Bar. Socialising with your mates and the opposition is the spirit of rugby and sets the tone for our perception by other clubs in the competition. Also we compete in boatrace with the opposition. The Boatrace consists of a team of 4 players trying to down 4 schooners (one each in succession) faster than the opposition. Many a losing day has been redeemed by a fine performance in the bar boatrace.
THE STABLE SQUARE BAR & RG McGee's
Our two drinking holes are The Stable Square Bar and RG McGee's. The Stable Square Bar is located in the historic Stable Square of the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury. In the Bar you will find photos of HAC Rugby teams going back to the 19th Century and rugby memoribilia commemorating a century of rugby tradition and sporting achievements. RG McGee's located in the main street of Richmond (opposite Richmond Oval) is our home away from College and when the Uni Bar is closed we can be found enjoying a cleansing ale at "RG's".
HAC RUGBY BUS TRIPS
NOT TO BE MISSED! Lots of singing, dancing and fun and laughter.
HAC RUGBY MID SEASON BALL
"The Phantom Lives!!!" (Well not really!) Those who remember the legendary but now defunct Phantom B & S Ball held at the Hawkesbury Campus will tell tales of infinite enjoyment which seem to have more in common with the worship of pagan deities in Ancient Rome rather than modern day Richmond. Today we have the HAC Rugby Mid Season Ball where we get dressed up the First Thursday back of 2nd semester and dance the night away in the Stable Square Bar.
BACK TO HAC DAY & LADIES DAY
Every year the Club holds a "Back to HAC Day!" On this day past students and Old Boys of the University and Ag College are invited to return to the Campus to reacquaint themselves with the College and once again be part of the Hawkesbury atmosphere. On "Back to HAC Day!" we often celebrate the achievements of those who have made a lasting contribution to the Club over the years. The day is followed by dinner, auctions, raffles and socialising in the Stable Square Bar. A feature of "Back to HAC Day!" is the awarding of the Robert Graves Medal for the Player of the Day. This medal is named after former HAC Old Boy and dual Rugby League and Rugby Union International Robert Graves. Every year the Club holds a "Ladies Day" On this day we say thankyou to the female members of the Club who contribute to the Club behind the scenes and in the day to day operations of the Club.
HAC RUFC PRESENTATION NIGHT
The season concludes with the Presentation Night where the awards for the season are awarded and the incoming committee for the future season nominated and voted upon. The Presentation Night is an occassion for celebrating the achievements of the season and rewarding and recognising the individual performances of outstanding players within the Club.
Give us a go you won't be disappointed.
Wazzie, Wazzie, Yah!
